In the 14th minute, Hector Covarrubias got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 20 minutes into the game, Joachim Sandell cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Jacobo Nores was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Valter Sörman was shown his second yellow card after 22 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. Hannes Lindsten's late challenge caught a Paraguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Jaime Pardo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paraguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Jaime Pardo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonatan Alebom breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Östavall's zone, Primitivo Escribano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonatan Alebom came out of the goal and Primitivo Escribano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jaime Pardo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Jonatan Alebom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jaime Pardo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 94thth minute tested the skills of Jonatan Alebom when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Paraguay played a much better game than Östavall and deserved their victory. The Östavall players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
