The Suikerklontjes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sammy Godts should have stopped the shot. In the 18th minute, Bart Van de Velde made a precise shot to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Uruguay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Johannes Weijnandts in the 21st minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Suikerklontjes's goal looked a bit too open when Maximiliano Escribano came free, but Sammy Godts reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Johannes Weijnandts in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joaquin Gayoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Herald Van de Goor's late challenge caught a Uruguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Herald Van de Goor helped the player get up and apologised. After 29 played minutes Suikerklontjes got a freekick which was hit by Herald Van de Goor. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Johannes Weijnandts, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. The throw-in from Herald Van de Goor in the 40th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Uruguay's Alberto Gisbert. Sammy Godts was out of position in the 41 minute of play, and Francisco Seco capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Francisco Seco really showed his touch with that goal: 4-1. Sammy Godts made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Francisco Seco sent off a good shot on target. Bryan Van Deuren hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Francisco Seco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Francisco Seco to strike the kick off in the second half. Uruguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maximiliano Escribano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sammy Godts tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 73 played minutes Suikerklontjes got a freekick which was hit by Herald Van de Goor. In the 76th minute Francisco Seco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sammy Godts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
