Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. 31 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Olaf Degens came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Waclaw Poremba in the 33rd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Illescas in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Peter Oldenborger prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 40th minute of the match, Domenik Hoffhuis tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jonathan Ferrant saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After having played for 42 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 44 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sebastiaan Middeljans. A collision led to MK Investments getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Jorn Pilage hit a great ball. 47 minutes into the game, Jimmie Cai was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. Venezuela's Jose Correa quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Jimmie Cai, made in the 90th minute of the game. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
