Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. El Salvador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lionel-Andrés Messi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 6 minutes into the game, Pretoria Gostyń's Tomás Clodio nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ricardo Zorita made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 11th minute of the match Jerzy Krzynowek sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ricardo Zorita skillfully saved the ball. Ricardo Zorita didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tomás Clodio went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. Abram Luque hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. El Salvador were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after Pretoria Gostyń's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mateo Leguizamo took the corner. A well-hit corner resulted in Moises Fernandino heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. After a defensive mix-up in El Salvador's zone, Aureliusz Komornicki stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal and Aureliusz Komornicki tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 32nd minute of the game Jerzy Krzynowek made a throw-in which Arkadiusz Kuszczak played forward. Abram Luque hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lukasz Rekawiczka in the 45th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Moises Fernandino stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Joshua Curbelo got a throw-in 56 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Abram Luque. El Salvador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 58th minute, when Julian Biskupiak scored to the left of an out of position Ricardo Zorita, making the score, 0-7. Pretoria Gostyń's Jerzy Krzynowek quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Luis Rubio, made in the 62nd minute of the game. A hard shot 63 in the game by Tomás Clodio from a close distance when the talented Ricardo Zorita managed to make a qualified save. El Salvador's players were relieved. The crowd rose to their feet as Lionel-Andrés Messi kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ricardo Zorita. That made the score 0-8 in the 66 minute of play. In the 70th minute Pretoria Gostyń were awarded a corner. Lionel-Andrés Messi went to the cornerflag to take it. El Salvador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 72nd minute, when Tomás Clodio scored to the left of an out of position Ricardo Zorita, making the score, 0-9. Ricardo Zorita was a little too slow when Julian Biskupiak got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 80th minute. The score was now 0-11. In the 85th minute, Lionel-Andrés Messi made a precise shot to the right of Ricardo Zorita. El Salvador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-12. In the 89th play minute Lionel-Andrés Messi came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Ricardo Zorita. 0-13. El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomás Clodio in the 93rd minute of play. Pretoria Gostyń's Lionel-Andrés Messi got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
