An unexpectedly hard shot by 方桑正 in the 18th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Fred Bonk was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Fred Bonk firmly grabbed it by the left post. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind 福建宁德活塞队's goalkeeper Fred Bonk, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 30 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fred Bonk breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The corner led to Ecuador's Luis Andino getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. 柯默渊 fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Fred Bonk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 61st minute of play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Zorita in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fred Bonk saved 福建宁德活塞队 from getting behind. After 69 played minutes 福建宁德活塞队 got a freekick which was hit by Lajos Tulipán. The supporters of Ecuador booed when 福建宁德活塞队 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. 柯默渊 didn't get a good kick on the ball. 方桑正 received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Fred Bonk took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 85 minutes into the match, 福建宁德活塞队's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Fred Bonk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 87 minutes into the match, 福建宁德活塞队's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Fred Bonk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When 方桑正 came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the 福建宁德活塞队 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that 方桑正 couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fred Bonk breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fred Bonk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Ecuador had played much better football throughout.
