An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 12th minute of play forced INTERNAUTAS FDC's goalkeeper Banan Balle to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Banan Balle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 18th minute of the match. 25 minutes into the match, INTERNAUTAS FDC's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Banan Balle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of INTERNAUTAS FDC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Hernan Machado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Hernan Machado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 59th minute James Rodriguez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If James Rodriguez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frechoso Ugartondo hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, INTERNAUTAS FDC's Lawrence Udias got a free kick in the 71st minute. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet.
