Benoit De Middeleer showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eliseo Noboa was the one to do the kick off. Antoni Gotfryd's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benito Sanz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. In the 53rd minute of the match Singapore got a corner. Costa Rica's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Benoit De Middeleer ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Arif Devan managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Lautaro Puig succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 3-1 in the 59th playminute. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Juan Rubio got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Aaron Alcocer charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aaron Alcocer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Singapore booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aaron Alcocer didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 82 played minutes, Singapore's John Wah shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Benito Sanz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Singapore reached it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Benoit De Middeleer in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. Benoit De Middeleer scored 4-1 in the 92nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
