Semantra AC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Costa Rica the free kick. In the 11th minute, Ettore Salomone hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 13 minutes into the game, Semantra AC's Alberigo Pasin nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Flavio Marconi, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. 18 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aurelio Feltrin. 20 minutes into the game, Semantra AC's Flavio Marconi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. In a very dangerous position, a player in Costa Rica fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 31st minute. Penalty! After 37 minutes, Eliseo Noboa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Semantra AC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a free kick in the 37th minute. Alessandro Spiazzi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. Flavio Marconi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alan Moruga hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aurelio Feltrin couldn't finish the play.
