The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Patricio Costa a yellow card for diving instead. In the 88th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patricio Costa to maneuver through the defense. When Patricio Costa was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 94 minutes had been played. In the 96th minute of the match Ellis Pears shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Italia.1.FCKaiserslautern's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
