Virgilio Rojas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 7th minute of the match. Ricardo Gutxi hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 12th minute. Virgilio Rojas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 15th minute of the match. PUNTARENAS F.C's Virgilio Rojas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 20th minute of play. 23 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Virgilio Rojas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Juan Sebastián Puig scored 0-1 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Virgilio Rojas, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vinicio Medina made a kick off. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Gaueko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With 54 minutes on the clock, Antonio Arias commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vinicio Medina, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ricardo Gutxi during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 59th minute, Ricardo Gutxi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but PUNTARENAS F.C's Virgilio Rojas did a great save. Virgilio Rojas made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Agustín Saelices sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Camilo Gisbert got a free kick in the 75th minute. PUNTARENAS F.C's Ciro Teles was substituted for Felix Stenqvist. The supporters of PUNTARENAS F.C booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 77th minute, Vinicio Medina hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 84 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Gaueko came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 89 minutes into the game, Julian Gaueko cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. PUNTARENAS F.C succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ecuador had controlled the match.
