Angel Xacintu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 19th minute of the match. 21 minutes into the game, Mariano Lacasa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Angel Xacintu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After the first half Chile were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 50th minute, Tomas Ourente hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carhue made a substitution. Charles De Ketelaere replaced Brent-Jan Kindermans. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Carhue's goalkeeper Angel Xacintu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 63 minutes had been played when some careless play by Carhue's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mariano Lacasa was slow to take the kick. During this time Chile's players had a chance to rest. Mariano Lacasa made a great header on Chile's corner, it was just that Carhue's Angel Xacintu managed to reach the ball for a save. Angel Xacintu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa in the 65th minute of play. A throw-in in the 85th minute of the game was made by Jose Manzanedo with Orlando Casaus as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. 91 minutes had been played when some careless play by Carhue's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mariano Lacasa was slow to take the kick. During this time Chile's players had a chance to rest. Chile's Mariano Lacasa was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Angel Xacintu in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The supporters of Chile booed when Carhue was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leon Kaxen didn't get a good kick on the ball.
