With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Zorita in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vinícius Olgado prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 36 minutes into the match, Olgado™'s goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Vinícius Olgado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Olgado™'s José Paulo Mandrak got a free kick in the 37th minute. Vinícius Olgado came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Agustín Saelices. But to his dismay, Agustín Saelices quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 46thth minute of the game Daniel Zorita who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Olgado™'s Vinícius Olgado was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The supporters of Ecuador booed when Olgado™ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tales Massa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Felix Montenegro could shoot a difficult shot in the 53rd minute, which Vinícius Olgado however easily saved by the left post. After 54 minutes Olgado™'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Vinícius Olgado despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 55th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vinícius Olgado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcinho Paes in the 56th minute of play. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vinícius Olgado having to interfere. A collision led to Olgado™ getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Gustavo Gómez hit a great ball. After 63 minutes, Andi Jovanović made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Ecuador's Julio Vera tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 66 minutes into the game, Olgado™'s Marcinho Paes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Olgado™ made a substitution. Germán Cano replaced Marcinho Paes. The audience was convinced that Andi Jovanović's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. In the 73rd minute, Germán Cano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 77th minute. The corner ended in Luis Andino almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Olgado™'s Vinícius Olgado did a great save. 82 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Germán Cano came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Olgado™'s Vinícius Olgado got control of the ball when Felix Montenegro tried to sneak it across the goal line. The corner ended in Felix Montenegro almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Olgado™'s Vinícius Olgado did a great save. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Vinícius Olgado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador.
