The throw-in from Mário Mendes in the 22nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernando Vinhas, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fernando Vinhas in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. Jose Correa charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jose Correa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Laerte Valladares took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 31st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Vinhas in the 35th minute of play. Venezuela's Jose Correa got his second yellow card of the match in the 39th minute. The referee ordered Jose Correa off the ground. The Werneck FC - DMZ fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Fernando Vinhas made the kick off in the second half. Fernando Vinhass short, quick shot in the 51stth minute got Jonathan Ferrant to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonathan Venegas in the 55th minute of play forced Werneck FC - DMZ's goalkeeper Rafael Loyola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Laerte Valladares made in the 57th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Mário Mendes. Rafael Loyola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Salvador Gisbert in the 61st minute of the match. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 66 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Tomas Illescas. Werneck FC - DMZ's Zézinho Fantini shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 67th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Jonathan Ferrant but with some difficulty. In the 73rd minute, Werneck FC - DMZ's Fernando Vinhas dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. The long shot by Mário Mendes in the 77th minute really tested Jonathan Ferrant's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 81st minute Joshua Secada shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafael Loyola saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Werneck FC - DMZ defense, Joshua Secada kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rafael Loyola. The Werneck FC - DMZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rafael Loyola should have stopped the shot. Rafael Loyola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Costa in the 87th minute of play. Rafael Loyola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patricio Costa in the 89th minute of the match. In the 94th minute, Patricio Costa made a precise shot to the right of Rafael Loyola. Werneck FC - DMZ's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2.
