An unexpectedly hard shot by Attilio Di Loreto in the 19th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Di Han Guo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. The throw-in from Zula Kiepski in the 26th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Peru's Alonso Berganza. If Eliseo Mina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Peru's Luz Tejedor got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 44th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Di Han Guo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Di Han Guo was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 70th minute of the game Anthony Alvarado made a throw-in which Moises Gayoso played forward. The supporters of Peru booed when Lipa KS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zula Kiepski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lipa KS's Daniel Argoitz was substituted for Wladyslaw Niewiadomski. Lipa KS made a substitution. Gürhan Arkan replaced Attilio Di Loreto. Rafael Gallo might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Di Han Guo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rafael Gallo ran back to his position shaking his head. Milagros Fraga hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Peru were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
