Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Atlético Nuevo Laredo's Rodrigo Rojas started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Flavio Etxatxu, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. In the 12th minute, Carolo Bernat left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Atlético Nuevo Laredo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Juan Rubio hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodrigo Rojas in the 17th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Axel Tasis scored 1-2 in the 19th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benicio Javiero, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tobías Astorga in the 28th minute of play. 32 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Tobías Astorga came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Carolo Bernat came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Atlético Nuevo Laredo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carolo Bernat couldn't finish the play. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tobías Astorga in the 36th minute of play. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tobías Astorga went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. In the 40th minute, Rodrigo Rojas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Axel Tasis made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 53rd minute of play forced Atlético Nuevo Laredo's goalkeeper Benicio Javiero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carolo Bernat recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tobías Astorga kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 59thth minute. Though ot was a great shot Costa Rica's keeper Benito Sanz was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. 62 minutes into the game, Atlético Nuevo Laredo's Tobías Astorga nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-6. After 67 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Aaron Alcocer. Flavio Etxatxu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. The supporters of Atlético Nuevo Laredo booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Axel Tasis didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Benito Sanz managed to avoid a goal in the 76thth minute, when Atlético Nuevo Laredo's Tobías Astorga fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 77 minutes into the match, Rodrigo Rojas dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Benito Sanz, 1-7. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tobías Astorga in the 82nd minute of play. A hard shot 84 in the game by Tobías Astorga from a close distance when the talented Benito Sanz managed to make a qualified save. Costa Rica's players were relieved. Atlético Nuevo Laredo were awarded a corner in the 88th minute after Costa Rica's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Carolo Bernat took the corner. Hugo Ferrant tried in the 88th minute to hit away a contribution but miss-kicked the ball which ended up in his own goal and left an unhappy Benito Sanz a with quite unnecessary self made goal. Result 1-8. Thanks to some nice moves Tobías Astorga could shoot a difficult shot in the 93rd minute, which Benito Sanz however easily saved by the left post. 94 minutes into the game, Rodrigo Rojas recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Benito Sanz. Rodrigo Rojas showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-9. Atlético Nuevo Laredo's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
