After 32 played minutes ᗩᑎᗩᕼᗴᎥᗰ ᗪᑌᑕᛕᔕ got a freekick which was hit by Marty Fearns. 33 minutes into the match, ᗩᑎᗩᕼᗴᎥᗰ ᗪᑌᑕᛕᔕ's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Pardo came free, but Alan Tetley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of ᗩᑎᗩᕼᗴᎥᗰ ᗪᑌᑕᛕᔕ booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Xavier Zoido didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Marty Fearns's late challenge caught a Paraguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marty Fearns helped the player get up and apologised. Howard Walters received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jaime Pardo came free with the goalkeeper in the 68th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Alan Tetley could save by the left post. When Howard Walters fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ᗩᑎᗩᕼᗴᎥᗰ ᗪᑌᑕᛕᔕ's protests and gave Howard Walters a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to ᗩᑎᗩᕼᗴᎥᗰ ᗪᑌᑕᛕᔕ getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Howard Walters hit a great ball. Paraguay's Jacobo Nores played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dom Kyle in the 91st minute of play.
