The supporters of Paraguay booed when ᗩᑎᗩᕼᗴᎥᗰ ᗪᑌᑕᛕᔕ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marty Fearns didn't get a good kick on the ball. Primitivo Escribano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Alan Tetley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 37th minute, Dom Kyle ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jacobo Nores was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. The Paraguay players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. ᗩᑎᗩᕼᗴᎥᗰ ᗪᑌᑕᛕᔕ were winning 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Howard Walters was the one to do the kick off. When the match had gone on for 67 minutes, Dom Kyle took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Jacobo Nores to make any attempt to save it. Hector Covarrubias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alan Tetley having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in ᗩᑎᗩᕼᗴᎥᗰ ᗪᑌᑕᛕᔕ's zone, Jaime Pardo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alan Tetley came out of the goal and Jaime Pardo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jaime Pardo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Alan Tetley tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Primitivo Escribano hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Paraguay's Xavier Zoido managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Wally Scorfield in the 94 minute of the game. If Jaime Pardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Paraguay manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing ᗩᑎᗩᕼᗴᎥᗰ ᗪᑌᑕᛕᔕ to win.
