After a defensive mix-up in FC Oltul Slatina's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Manuel Lovinescu came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Felix Montes hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. In the 27th minute, Neil Cassar Overend made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. In the 32nd minute, Iurie Avacariței hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 36 minutes into the game, Gaudencio Ubarna cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaudencio Ubarna in the 41st minute of play. With a little luck, FC Oltul Slatina's Manuel Lovinescu got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 68 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Manuel Lovinescu was left in no man's land by his defense there! FC Oltul Slatina's Nichifor Bornescu was substituted for Gelu Coman. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Zorita in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Manuel Lovinescu saved FC Oltul Slatina from getting behind. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Iurie Avacariței received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
