The goalkeeper, Birk Bodin, was totally fooled by Mexico's Joel Gaona, who 13 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ignacio Valerón in the 24th minute of play. In the 32nd minute, Stamatis Pegiadis left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. Olaf Krumbein kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Birk Bodin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 85th minute of play. Alberto Tafalla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Birk Bodin having to interfere. Joel Gaona hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. In the 91st match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Facundo Cadaval to maneuver through the defense. 96 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Stamatis Pegiadis.
