A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Eliseo Noboa hit a great ball. 10 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Paulo Carneiro came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tiaguinho Lira, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Abel Carballo hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiaguinho Lira in the 15th minute of play. In the 16th minute, Costa Rica's Axel Tasis dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. In the 20th match minute, Osasco Hot Dogers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dorival Cordeiro to maneuver through the defense. If Tiaguinho Lira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tiaguinho Lira struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Osasco Hot Dogers. In the 29th minute, Tiaguinho Lira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Osasco Hot Dogers fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 31st match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliseo Noboa to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tiaguinho Lira in the 33rd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Osasco Hot Dogers's Ivo Dracena got a free kick in the 35th minute. Lautaro Puig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Roberto Veiga having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tiaguinho Lira in the 43rd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 48th minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Roberto Veiga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Axel Tasis made a kick off. If Axel Tasis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Paulo Carneiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eliseo Noboa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Luiz Paulo Carneiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Luiz Paulo Carneiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tiaguinho Lira got free with Benito Sanz in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. Zé Roberto Veiga was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Luiz Paulo Carneiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luiz Paulo Carneiro struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Osasco Hot Dogers. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Osasco Hot Dogers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ramón de Godoi didn't get a good kick on the ball.
