In the 9th minute, Werneck FC - DMZ's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jaime Cazalla fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. With a little luck, Werneck FC - DMZ's Rafael Loyola got control of the ball when Francisco Seco tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximiliano Escribano in the 14th minute of play forced Werneck FC - DMZ's goalkeeper Rafael Loyola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rafael Loyola was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Francisco Seco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Rafael Loyola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernando Vinhas, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Cazalla in the 39th minute of play forced Werneck FC - DMZ's goalkeeper Rafael Loyola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Francisco Seco stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 54 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Kevin Carballal. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fernando Vinhas's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. Oséas Urbano hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Ruy Favoretto was extremely unlucky when he, in the 74th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 77th minute, Bruno Beldad hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 81st minute Maximiliano Escribano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafael Loyola saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Werneck FC - DMZ booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberto Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Uruguay's zone, Caio Ceresso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joaquin Gayoso came out of the goal and Caio Ceresso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the final whistle went the supporters of Werneck FC - DMZ were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Uruguay side.
