Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Marcus Hagström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 14th minute of play. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcus Hagström having to interfere. In the 25th minute Conny Vesterberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Conny Vesterberg in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Marcus Hagström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 34th minute of play. Marcus Hagström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rank 1's Marcus Hagström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 44th minute of play. The Rank 1 players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. 56 minutes into the match, Rank 1's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Marcus Hagström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
