Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leandro Romildo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dante Isauro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Ecuador had played much better football throughout.
