Armando Brito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Berganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. Matthew Garrido made in the 9th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Artigas's Serafin Morenas. With a little luck, Artigas's Armando Brito got control of the ball when Isidoro Sarmiento tried to sneak it across the goal line. With an all-out effort, Panama's Armando Brito threw himself towards the right post 12 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Tomas Berganza, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Abraham Alguacil came free with the goalkeeper in the 14th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. If Isidoro Sarmiento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Panama's Miguel Miralles slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Armando Brito. That made the score 2-0 after 25 minutes of play. Artigas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alex Cambeiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. In the 62nd minute, Tomas Berganza left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Panama fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-0. After some careless play in the Artigas defense, Tomas Berganza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Armando Brito. The Artigas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Armando Brito should have stopped the shot. Armando Brito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isidoro Sarmiento in the 68th minute of play. Panama's Tomas Berganza got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 71st minute, Abraham Alguacil ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Armando Brito was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-0. Armando Brito didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Abraham Alguacil went, in the 96th minute, to the upper right corner, 11-0 was the resulting score. When the referee ended the match the Panama players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
