The supporters of La Scaloneta booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montes didn't get a good kick on the ball. It was beautiful to see Ecuador's Daniel Zorita in action when he in the 25th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! 28 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Enrique Rozarius. 31 minutes into the match, La Scaloneta's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Franco Moscatelli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Franco Moscatelli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Montenegro in the 34th minute of the match. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilberto Izel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 40th minute, Gilberto Izel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gilberto Izel made a kick off. In the 54th match minute, La Scaloneta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicanor Ramos to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 55th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Franco Moscatelli but with some difficulty. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gilberto Izel in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gilberto Izel in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Gilberto Izel blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilberto Izel, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. After 67 minutes, Antonio Arias mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the La Scaloneta players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. In the 68th minute of the match Enrique Rozarius shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Gilberto Izel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. After 81 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Arias. After 82 played minutes, La Scaloneta's Enrique Rozarius shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Julio Vera came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in La Scaloneta reached it. Franco Moscatelli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 84th minute of the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luca Messi in the 85th minute of play. When Felix Montenegro fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Felix Montenegro a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a free kick in the 86th minute. In the 91st minute Enrique Rozarius shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
