A collision led to La Scaloneta getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Vinícius Junior hit a great ball. In the 38th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Venegas to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 40 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gilberto Izel to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Gilberto Izel managed to get in a good position for a shot. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas got a free kick in the 92nd minute. If Gilberto Izel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilberto Izel in the 94th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Venezuela supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching La Scaloneta's performance. The match ended with a win for La Scaloneta.
