Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laércio Loureiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Primitivo Andino hit a great ball. After having played for 43 minutes, Laércio Loureiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Inter de São Paulo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Laércio Loureiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Inter de São Paulo's Yan Ceresso was substituted for César Alagoano. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Laércio Loureiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kléber Salles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. After 66 minutes Inter de São Paulo's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Felix Montes almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Inter de São Paulo's Kléber Salles did a great save. Laércio Loureiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Laércio Loureiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Inter de São Paulo's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kléber Salles came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Laércio Loureiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. Laércio Loureiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Inter de São Paulo's Kléber Salles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 77th minute of play. Cesinha Amorim kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Laércio Loureiro sent off a good shot on target. Kléber Salles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 88th minute after Inter de São Paulo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Inter de São Paulo's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ecuador walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
