Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 72ndth minute of the game Rickard Erserman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 76th minute, Marcel Wassermayer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Instead of passing the ball, Daniel Zorita made a really hard long shot towards goal. Inter de Chillán's Anton Björnberg realized he got lucky when he saw the ball passing the outside of the left post. Samuel Abel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Agustín Saelices could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Anton Björnberg made a huge save. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rickard Erserman in the 93rd minute of play. In the 94th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agustín Saelices to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rickard Erserman, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Ecuador had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
