Mitchel Dijkstra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 25th minute of the match. Mitchel Dijkstra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 27th minute of play. In the 32nd minute, David Wilmink hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 34th minute of play forced Fc Benefica's goalkeeper Mitchel Dijkstra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jens van Basten's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rolando Noboa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. Ture Asklöv's late challenge caught a Peru's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ture Asklöv helped the player get up and apologised. After 44 played minutes Fc Benefica got a freekick which was hit by Ture Asklöv. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Julian Murillo to make the kick off. Milagros Fraga kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. In the 60th minute, Leandro Soares left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fc Benefica fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Fc Benefica made a substitution. Denis Beremundo replaced Humberto Jonge. Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Mitchel Dijkstra made a huge save. With a little luck, Fc Benefica's Mitchel Dijkstra got control of the ball when Julian Murillo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Emmanuel Reyes made in the 85th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Milagros Fraga. 94 minutes into the match, Rafael Gallo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mitchel Dijkstra. Fc Benefica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rafael Gallo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. Denis Beremundo kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. When the match was over Peru could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Fc Benefica throughout the match.
