It was Lucas-James Joshua who took care of the corner kick. 0 descensos's Lucas-James Joshua was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 9th minute, 0 descensos's Bernabe Rojas dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. 0 descensos's Bernabe Rojas got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Primitivo Andino got a throw-in 17 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Felix Montenegro. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 25thth minute, when 0 descensos's Bernabe Rojas fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Ecuador's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Bernabe Rojas 31 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernabe Rojas in the 35th minute of play. 36 minutes into the match, Bernabe Rojas notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Ecuador's Julio Vera. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Melquiades Galtero hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Adolfo Adrio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 47th minute of play.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bernabe Rojas's shot from short distance in the 53rd minute. In the 54th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adolfo Adrio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of 0 descensos booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristian Sancho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Robustiano Lico kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Luisito Leizarraga kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. The long shot by Daniel Zorita in the 68th minute really tested Adolfo Adrio's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 77th minute of play forced 0 descensos's goalkeeper Adolfo Adrio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Camilo Gisbert made in the 80th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Cristian Sancho however managed to control. Bernabe Rojas took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. After having played for 91 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
