After 11 played minutes Locomotiva grena got a freekick which was hit by Chiquinho Martins. Christian Faria could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christian Faria in the 15th minute of the match. Christian Faria sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 36 minutes of play, Locomotiva grena's Dito Mineiro made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! 39 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dito Mineiro. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Precioso Barcaiztegui in the 40th minute of play. Locomotiva grena's Sixten Vallengren got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by Locomotiva grena's Christian Faria. But to his dismay, Christian Faria quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Christian Faria in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. Alan Moruga hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. 65 minutes into the game, Locomotiva grena's Dito Mineiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-0. Locomotiva grena's Flavinho Mello was substituted for Dito Mineiro. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christian Faria in the 72nd minute of play. With 73 minutes on the clock, Alexander Carballo commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 72nd minute of the game. One of Costa Rica:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Locomotiva grena:s goal. Benito Sanz had in the 74thth minute some difficulties stopping Flavinho Mello's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 74th minute, Flavinho Mello left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Locomotiva grena fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 7-0. 82 minutes into the game, Christian Faria cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 8-0. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Noboa in the 85th minute of play forced Locomotiva grena's goalkeeper Dorian Machado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christian Faria in the 87th minute of play. When the referee ended the match the Locomotiva grena players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
