After 12 minutes Venezuela's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Eric Snowden who took care of the corner kick. The corner led C. A. Independiente's Xu Yun Quan to a score. 1-0 in the 12th minute. The audience was convinced that Tomas Illescas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Farid Mondragón was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. Kerry Sellers received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Xu Yun Quan made a kick off. In the 76th minute, Kerry Sellers got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Xu Yun Quan succeeded in the game's 78th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 5-0. C. A. Independiente's Alfredo Felder was substituted for Sidney Forbes.
