An unexpectedly hard shot by Niklas Dalkvist in the 23rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Efrain Maria was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Cristian Sancho showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 27 minute of play. In the 30th minute Basilio Pepillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Niklas Dalkvist might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Niklas Dalkvist ran back to his position shaking his head. Efrain Maria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 36th minute of the match. 37 minutes had been played when some careless play by Gladiadores Legionarios's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Efrain Maria quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Efrain Maria in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 45 minutes into the match, Gladiadores Legionarios's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Montenegro came free, but Efrain Maria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Su Xiang Sha hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Gladiadores Legionarios's Ambrosio Gasteiz was substituted for Generoso Cresitobalo. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

In the 55th minute, Su Xiang Sha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Efrain Maria didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 58th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Gladiadores Legionarios's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Efrain Maria came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Gladiadores Legionarios defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Efrain Maria. The Gladiadores Legionarios fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Efrain Maria should have stopped the shot. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Basilio Pepillo in the 69th minute of play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Basilio Pepillo in the 71st minute of the match. In the 71st minute, Ecuador's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Basilio Pepillo fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Efrain Maria tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 75 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Niklas Dalkvist came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After recieving a nice pass, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita tried to score from far away in the 79th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 81st minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Efrain Maria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 85 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Sacit Refik came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 88th minute of the match, Niklas Dalkvist got a very nice opportunity to score, but Julio Vera was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Niklas Dalkvist tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Niklas Dalkvist got free with Julio Vera in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
