Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Carmelo Sifon got the match started through his kick off. Sílvio Luiz Goiano came out of the goal in the 7th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After having played for 12 minutes, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Andino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sílvio Luiz Goiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 17 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sílvio Luiz Goiano made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Sílvio Luiz Goiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 19th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Santamaria in the 22nd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sílvio Luiz Goiano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 25th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angel Botello in the 26th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carmelo Sifon came free with the goalkeeper in the 35th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Agustín Saelices could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Sílvio Luiz Goiano made a huge save. When Cristian Sancho fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Cristian Sancho a yellow card for diving instead. In the 96th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Sancho to maneuver through the defense. 97 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Santamaria came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
