After 7 played minutes MKS Bełchatów got a freekick which was hit by Mariusz Kazczyk. Santos Dumont sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sylwester Lampa kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. When Cristian Sancho fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Cristian Sancho a yellow card for diving instead. Cristian Sancho kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marian Dropinski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. After having played for 55 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Daniel Zorita's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 60thth minute, Radomil Weyna skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After 61 minutes, Agustín Saelices mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the MKS Bełchatów players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 61st match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agustín Saelices to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marian Dropinski in the 61st minute of play. In the 74th minute Marian Dropinski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Radomil Weyna made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in MKS Bełchatów's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Radomil Weyna came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 86 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Santos Dumont came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Sylwester Lampa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sylwester Lampa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Ecuador supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Ecuador would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
