Eugenio Cortez started the match with the kick off. With a little luck, Alvarado's Alberto Mikelar got control of the ball when Darin Beam tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mel Avila took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eugenio Cortez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 6 minutes of play, Alvarado's Eugenio Cortez made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mel Avila was left in no man's land by his defense there! 10 minutes in the game, Eugenio Cortez dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. 11 minutes into the match, Darin Beam notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Alvarado's Alberto Mikelar. Alberto Mikelar was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Darin Beam's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 24thth minute, Alberto Mikelar skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 25th minute, Marcelo Nahia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Silvio Sidro kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. When Teodoro Stiles came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Sport Club Corinthians fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Teodoro Stiles couldn't finish the play. In the 34th match minute, Sport Club Corinthians was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Curtis Blalock to maneuver through the defense. Hank Simon hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. Marcelo Nahia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Mel Avila tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Sport Club Corinthians's Lucas Crews got a free kick in the 40th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Darin Beam stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Teodoro Stiles fell near the penalty area in the 50th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sport Club Corinthians's protests and gave Teodoro Stiles a yellow card for diving instead. Teodoro Stiles kicked well hit freekick during the 50th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Sport Club Corinthians's Brad Bauer got a free kick in the 52nd minute. When Darin Beam came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Sport Club Corinthians fans jumped to their feet. The supporters of Sport Club Corinthians booed when Alvarado was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alonzo Cibran didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 86th minute Darin Beam shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alberto Mikelar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alberto Mikelar didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Darin Beam went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Neither team could find the winning goal during normal time. The second half finished 2-2. Extra-time would have to be played.

The players didn't get much rest, but they still tried to pep each other up as they lined up for the first half in overtime. Alvarado's Eugenio Cortez started the play with his kick off. A collision led to Sport Club Corinthians getting a freekick after 108 minutes play. Troy Hutton hit a great ball. When the referee signaled the end of the first half of extra-time the score was 2-2. The players had a chance to rest for a moment before the second half.

Sport Club Corinthians's Troy Hutton managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Alonzo Cibran in the 117 minute of the game. When Sport Club Corinthians's Darin Beam in the 119th minute got a chance for a shot 119th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After some careless play in the Sport Club Corinthians defense, Eugenio Cortez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mel Avila. The Sport Club Corinthians fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mel Avila should have stopped the shot. When the match was over Alvarado could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sport Club Corinthians throughout the match.
