Ecuador's Luis Andino got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 18th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Martin Cordeal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 28th minute of play. In the 29th minute, Edelmiro Nikola hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Felix Montenegro hit a great ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 53 minutes, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luis Andino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Martin Cordeal in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Martin Cordeal made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 71st minute. In the 76th minute, David Beckham Jr hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 88th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Cordeal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 90 minutes in the game Luis Andino did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Cristian Sancho. Efrain Clodio hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match.
