After 3 played minutes Northern Lights got a freekick which was hit by Sezen Hidayet. After 4 minutes, Selman Nurdag mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Northern Lights and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 4th minute, Selman Nurdag hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 6 minutes into the match, Northern Lights's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Başaran Ötüken reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nejat Alp Talayhan in the 8th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nejat Alp Talayhan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Selman Nurdag was shown his second yellow card after 11 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Northern Lights's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. A collision led to Northern Lights getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Nejat Alp Talayhan hit a great ball. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Başaran Ötüken showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The audience was convinced that Nejat Alp Talayhan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Northern Lights reached it. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Başaran Ötüken having to interfere. After 92 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Zorita. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Northern Lights throughout the match.
