BV Borussia Hammarby's Jairo Asteguieta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Monty Rogers in the 15th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Orvar Kihlmans short, quick shot in the 51stth minute got Marco Day to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 59th minute Cassius Byrne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jairo Asteguieta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in USA's zone, 洪浩飞 stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marco Day came out of the goal and 洪浩飞 tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cassius Byrne in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jairo Asteguieta saved BV Borussia Hammarby from getting behind. With his leg Marco Day managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when BV Borussia Hammarby's Honorio Florin fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Karl Springfält had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. USA made a substitution. Sam Campbell replaced Cassius Byrne. Marco Day made an important save on a dangerous shot by 洪浩飞 in the 74th minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sam Campbell couldn't finish the play. 94 minutes into the game, Khalid Parry cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Jairo Asteguieta was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. USA's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
