Gervasio Oier dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. 13 minutes into the match, Jarana FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Gervasio Oier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 16th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joshua Secada to maneuver through the defense. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Gervasio Oier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gervasio Oier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patricio Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Jose Correa fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Jose Correa a yellow card for diving instead. In the 30th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. Gervasio Oier stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. Baldomiro Elizardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomas Illescas was the one to do the kick off. After 53 minutes Jarana FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tomas Illescas who took care of the corner kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Jarana FC's goalie and right to Rigoberto Mina. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Jarana FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Guillermo Mariano made in the 60th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Jarana FC's Paolo Fernendo. When Paolo Balasi came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Jarana FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paolo Balasi couldn't finish the play. Gervasio Oier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 67th minute of the match. Salvador Gisbert's late challenge caught a Jarana FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Salvador Gisbert helped the player get up and apologised. Salvador Gisbert kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Jarana FC's Angelo Di María managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Salvador Gisbert in the 75 minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paolo Balasi got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. Jarana FC's Angelo Di María managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Salvador Gisbert in the 94 minute of the game.
