Agustín Saelices received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Godofredo Maule tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 10th minute Leszek Henryk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Godofredo Maule showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 14th minute of the match. 18 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Shao Wei Wei. In the 19th minute Leszek Henryk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 21st minute, when Leszek Henryk scored to the left of an out of position Julio Vera, making the score, 1-0. When Luis Andino came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luis Andino couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Ecuador booed when San Martin de Tucumán was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pawel Sakowicz didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Godofredo Maule showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 39th minute of the match. Niklas Ekeberg struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for San Martin de Tucumán. 44 minutes into the game, Leszek Henryk recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Julio Vera. Leszek Henryk showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leszek Henryk made a kick off. A collision led to San Martin de Tucumán getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Lisandro Gudesteo hit a great ball. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. San Martin de Tucumán's Godofredo Maule proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save San Martin de Tucumán from getting a goal against them. Godofredo Maule made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 62nd minute. San Martin de Tucumán were awarded a corner in the 65th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Nicasio Jaizki took the corner. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niklas Ekeberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, San Martin de Tucumán's Jonas Loco got a free kick in the 68th minute. In the 69th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Godofredo Maule saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When San Martin de Tucumán's Leszek Henryk, in the 71st minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leszek Henryk was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. The audience was convinced that Niklas Ekeberg's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. 77 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Godofredo Maule. San Martin de Tucumán's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. 81 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Luis Andino nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Godofredo Maule made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. After a defensive mix-up in San Martin de Tucumán's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Godofredo Maule came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nicasio Jaizki's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nicasio Jaizki helped the player get up and apologised. In the 87th match minute, San Martin de Tucumán was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicasio Jaizki to maneuver through the defense. San Martin de Tucumán's Godofredo Maule played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 88th minute of play. After 90 minutes San Martin de Tucumán's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. San Martin de Tucumán were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
