Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. Tomas Illescas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Pirani in the 58th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Pirani in the 66th minute of the match. 76 minutes into the match, Gilmar Monteiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gilmar Monteiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. After 82 played minutes Vascogoianiense FC got a freekick which was hit by Pedrinho Vasco. Sidnei Leão kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. 85 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Guillermo Mariano hit a great ball. After 91 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Venezuela! Jonathan Ferrant had in the 92ndth minute some difficulties stopping Aírton Sousa's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After 95 played minutes Vascogoianiense FC got a freekick which was hit by Pedrinho Vasco. 97 minutes into the match, João Pirani had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant.
