Atletico Maturrango's Weather Piedrahita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Mina in the 12th minute of play. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcial Zuazna in the 18th minute of the match. Weather Piedrahita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 22nd minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Weather Piedrahita narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Peru's Eliseo Mina quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Hitzeder Serans, made in the 32nd minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 34th minute of play forced Atletico Maturrango's goalkeeper Weather Piedrahita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hitzeder Serans got a throw-in 35 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Leonides Ybarbo. Marcial Zuazna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Rolando Noboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Atletico Maturrango getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Sindo Enterria hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Eliseo Mina managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Eliseo Mina was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Weather Piedrahita breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 50th minute, Cristobal Tabby hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Weather Piedrahita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 52nd minute of play. Atletico Maturrango's Weather Piedrahita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eliseo Mina in the 54th minute of play. 59 minutes into the game, Eliseo Mina cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Weather Piedrahita was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Weather Piedrahita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. In the 68th minute of the match Peru got a corner. Atletico Maturrango's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 69th minute, Eliseo Mina ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Weather Piedrahita was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Leonides Ybarbo made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 72ndth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Rolando Noboa would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Weather Piedrahita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafael Gallo, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Rolando Noboa was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Marcial Zuazna showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-1 in the 90 minute of play. Weather Piedrahita didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rafael Gallo went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Peru fully deserved thier win.
