The audience thought a goal was coming when Holger Zachrisson got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Portuguesa's Holger Zachrisson in the 17th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Jonathan Ferrant was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Venezuela through an amazing save. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when 任浩默 sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Holger Zachrisson in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Holger Zachrisson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jorginho Vaz having to make a save. After having played for 30 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jorginho Vaz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from 任浩默 went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 任浩默, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Holger Zachrisson in the 55th minute of play. In the 58th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Chicote to maneuver through the defense. In the 60th minute, Tomas Illescas made a precise shot to the right of Jorginho Vaz. Portuguesa's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Jonathan Venegas hit a great ball. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andreas Pirlo in the 71st minute of play. Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Jorginho Vaz made a huge save. 75 minutes into the game, Edgard Macedo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 77th match minute, Portuguesa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jano Berger to maneuver through the defense. Portuguesa made a substitution. Giovani Cavalcante replaced Silvério Bittencourt. Jano Berger kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from 任浩默 went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. Portuguesa's 任浩默 got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 87 minutes, 任浩默 managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Portuguesa's supporters crossed their fingers, but 任浩默 was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Portuguesa's Miguel de Sena was substituted for Holger Zachrisson. Portuguesa walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
