Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Axel Tasis took the kick off in the first half of the match. Hugo Ferrant hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Gauthier Lepre received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 8 minutes into the match, Axel Tasis notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of FC Lugano's Claus Pratter. Claus Pratter was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Efrain Moruga got a throw-in 12 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Eliseo Noboa. Claus Pratter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Axel Tasis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC Lugano's attentive Fidelio Haller managed to snatch the ball when Efrain Moruga made a throw-in in the 17th minute of the game. 18 minutes into the match, Gauthier Lepre dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Benito Sanz, 1-1. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. FC Lugano's Fidelio Haller managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Efrain Moruga in the 25 minute of the game. In the 29th minute, Axel Tasis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Claus Pratter was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. The throw-in from Hugo Ferrant in the 33rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by FC Lugano's Matteo Gartenmann. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when FC Lugano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gauthier Lepre didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Costa Rica fans' excitement grew in the 37th match minute when Costa Rica's Axel Tasis looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Eliseo Noboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Claus Pratter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Axel Tasis in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Claus Pratter prevented the ball from getting in the gole. FC Lugano's Fidelio Haller managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Efrain Moruga in the 43 minute of the game. Efrain Moruga made in the 45th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Eliseo Noboa however managed to control. The FC Lugano players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Costa Rica were winning 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gauthier Lepre to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, FC Lugano's goal looked a bit too open when Axel Tasis came free, but Claus Pratter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of FC Lugano booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Rubio didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, FC Lugano's Palmiro Brennwald got a free kick in the 59th minute. Lautaro Puig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The throw-in from Efrain Moruga in the 67th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by FC Lugano's Fidelio Haller. Claus Pratter made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Axel Tasis sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Hugo Ferrant hit a great ball. Max Sevier's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benito Sanz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. Dieter Gärtner's late challenge caught a Costa Rica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dieter Gärtner helped the player get up and apologised. In the 81st minute, one of FC Lugano:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for FC Lugano. The goalkeeper, Claus Pratter, was totally fooled by Costa Rica's Axel Tasis, who 82 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximilian Buser in the 88th minute of play. After 88 minutes of play Costa Rica's Hugo Ferrant was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Hugo Ferrant hit a great ball. Efrain Moruga made in the 92nd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Eliseo Noboa immediately put the ball in play. Juan Rubio made in the 96th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by FC Lugano's Maximilian Buser. Chants of Costa Rica echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as FC Lugano had held the ball for most of the match.
