The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 8 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Henry Kristiansson. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kenneth McKinnell, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Kenneth McKinnell struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Catholic Church. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 20th minute of play forced Catholic Church's goalkeeper Henrik Ingemarsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Catholic Church's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Henrik Ingemarsson came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Patricio Costa's late challenge caught a Catholic Church's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Patricio Costa helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Catholic Church booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patricio Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 28th minute, Henry Kristiansson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Henrik Ingemarsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 31st minute of play. When Timur Malyugin fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Catholic Church's protests and gave Timur Malyugin a yellow card for diving instead. Venezuela's defense didn't have a chance, in the 36th minute, when Kenneth McKinnell scored to the left of an out of position Jonathan Ferrant, making the score, 2-0. In the 38th match minute, Catholic Church was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Timur Malyugin to maneuver through the defense.

Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kenneth McKinnell in the 59th minute of the match. Catholic Church's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Kenneth McKinnell in the 60th minute. The corner ended in Mathias Björk almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant did a great save. The supporters of Catholic Church booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillermo Mariano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Henry Kristiansson might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Henry Kristiansson ran back to his position shaking his head. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kenneth McKinnell, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. A sloppy throw-in by Camilo Gaos in the 76th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Catholic Church's Stig-Åke Ljungberg. Catholic Church's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
