The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Atletico Maturrango. 22 minutes into the game, Leonides Ybarbo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Pedro Manzanares was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Pedro Manzanares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Florencio Herbella in the 27th minute of the match. Axel Montenegro hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Pedro Manzanares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Florencio Herbella, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 31st minute Atletico Maturrango were awarded a corner. Cordara Baracaldo went to the cornerflag to take it. Atletico Maturrango's Cordara Baracaldo was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Pedro Manzanares in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When Florencio Herbella came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Atletico Maturrango fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Florencio Herbella couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Florencio Herbella in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedro Manzanares saved Colombia from getting behind. 36 minutes into the match, Abram Sarmiento had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Weather Piedrahita. Atletico Maturrango's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Abram Sarmiento was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. Colombia's Kevin Mastache got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Pascual Carballar in the 50th minute of play forced Atletico Maturrango's goalkeeper Weather Piedrahita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 52 minutes into the match, Colombia's goalkeeper Pedro Manzanares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leonides Ybarbo. If Florencio Herbella had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 57 minutes into the match, Colombia's goal looked a bit too open when Florencio Herbella came free, but Pedro Manzanares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kevin Mastache in the 61st minute of play forced Atletico Maturrango's goalkeeper Weather Piedrahita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Colombia's Ignacio Mastache was substituted for Abram Sarmiento. Colombia made a substitution. Abram Secada replaced Axel Montenegro. 71 minutes had been played when some careless play by Colombia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Cordara Baracaldo was slow to take the kick. During this time Atletico Maturrango's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Atletico Maturrango's corner Cordara Baracaldo fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Pedro Manzanares quite easily take care of the ball. The supporters of Atletico Maturrango booed when Colombia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Indiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Samuel Navarro kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. In the 80th minute of the match, Cordara Baracaldo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Pedro Manzanares saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Leonides Ybarbo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Pedro Manzanares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 88th minute, Abram Secada hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Florencio Herbella had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. From close distance Leonides Ybarbo pressed in the 3-5 goal high up into nets stiches in the right cross 93 minutes into the game. When the final whistle sounded Atletico Maturrango left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Colombia.
