Atletico Maturrango's defense didn't have a chance, in the 21st minute, when Abram Sarmiento scored to the left of an out of position Weather Piedrahita, making the score, 1-2. Weather Piedrahita made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abram Sarmiento in the 28th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abram Sarmiento in the 32nd minute of play forced Atletico Maturrango's goalkeeper Weather Piedrahita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 35 minutes into the match, Atletico Maturrango's goal looked a bit too open when Santino Seco came free, but Weather Piedrahita reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Atletico Maturrango booed when Colombia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kevin Mastache didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 45th play minute Axel Montenegro came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Weather Piedrahita. 2-2. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Pedro Manzanares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Primo Valcarcel in the 78th minute of the match. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 89 minutes into the match, Colombia's goal looked a bit too open when Marcial Zuazna came free, but Pedro Manzanares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Colombia's Pedro Manzanares got control of the ball when Leonides Ybarbo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cordara Baracaldo made a great header on Atletico Maturrango's corner, it was just that Colombia's Pedro Manzanares managed to reach the ball for a save. Pedro Manzanares was a little too slow when Marcial Zuazna got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 96th minute. The score was now 3-3. Despite being the better team, Atletico Maturrango failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
