But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. In the 29th minute, Oscar Mas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mänsur Rzayev showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Oscar Mas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 54th minute of play forced Şamaxı Bankirlər's goalkeeper Mänsur Rzayev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mänsur Rzayev was a little too slow when Felix Montenegro got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 58th minute. The score was now 2-1. In the 60th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gisbert to maneuver through the defense. 63 minutes into the match, Şamaxı Bankirlər's goalkeeper Mänsur Rzayev had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. The audience thought a goal was coming when Agustín Saelices got free with Mänsur Rzayev in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Şamaxı Bankirlər's Mänsur Rzayev got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line.
