After 10 minutes, Valdomiro Macedo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Planet Caravan and the Venezuela players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 11th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeu Marques saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valdomiro Macedo was shown his second yellow card after 12 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 13th match minute, Planet Caravan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valdomiro Macedo to maneuver through the defense. 14 minutes into the match, Patricio Costa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Romeu Marques. Planet Caravan's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Patricio Costa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Wilian Mendonça kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 1-1 in the 17 minute of play. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Planet Caravan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vitinho Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeu Marques saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 25 minutes, Gilvan Quirino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Planet Caravan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilvan Quirino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Planet Caravan defense, Tomas Illescas kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Romeu Marques. The Planet Caravan fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Romeu Marques should have stopped the shot. After 34 played minutes Planet Caravan got a freekick which was hit by Bebeto Queirós. Tomas Illescas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Planet Caravan's Vitinho Silva got a free kick in the 40th minute. After 43 played minutes Planet Caravan got a freekick which was hit by Hudson dos Santos. Patricio Costa hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. In the 47th minute, Guillermo Mariano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bebeto Queirós went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. In the 58th minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Romeu Marques saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gilvan Quirino blasted a shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilvan Quirino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gilvan Quirino's long shot made the audience stand up and applaude when it rumbled by Jonathan Ferrant on his right side and into the goal. 62 minutes into the game it was 3-2. When the match had gone on for 65 minutes, Bebeto Queirós put it in 4-2 from a short distance just to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Romeu Marques having to make a save. Planet Caravan's Bebeto Queirós got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Romeu Marques came out and tried to block the shot, but Tomas Illescas slotted it home off the left post making it 5-3 in the 81st minute. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bebeto Queirós, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Planet Caravan's Hudson dos Santos got a free kick in the 89th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Patricio Costa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Romeu Marques breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Planet Caravan had won after a very even match.
